Computational Geodynamics, Yonsei University
Changyeol Lee Ph. D., Geophysics
Welcome!
I am a geophysicist specializing in the computational geodynamics of subduction zones and intraplate regions, focusing on earthquakes and volcanism. I explore the temporal and spatial evolution of subduction zones and its broad implications. Specifically, my research aims to quantitatively understand the roles of water in these systems through the latest numerical modeling.
Post-doc and graduate student positions are open.
An applicant should contact me with the submission of a CV and research interests through changyeol.lee@yonsei.ac.kr.

The left panel presents the numerical modeling of a wet plume (left) and a magma wave (right) originating from the mantle transition zone. The right panel is a bird's-eye view illustrating that the origin of Quaternary volcanoes can be explained by subduction-induced upwelling (Outer Mongolia and inland China) or wet plumes (Eastern China and the Korean Peninsula), depending on the location of the region, based on the results of numerical modeling. Taken from Lee et al. (under review).
